The largest steel-hulled Heesen to date is nearly ready for delivery. Heesen Yachts’ Sparta started her first set of sea trials just a few days ago. They come two months after she slipped into the water.
Since she has a steel hull, the megayacht is a long-range cruiser. Although the performance tests are ongoing, Heesen anticipates a best range of 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her twin MTUs also should deliver a top speed of 16 knots. Regardless of her speed, she should turn heads due to her paint job. Metallic Venetian red and metallic anthracite gray accents characterize her profile.
Looking long and sleek thanks to the work of Winch Design, the custom yacht measures 220 feet (67 meters). The styling blends curves and linear details that the British studio initially conceived for a concept proposal. Specifically, the concept was Project Avanti, which the designers created with Heesen Yachts several years ago. Jointly, they revealed Project Avanti at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2018. The intention was to pique the interest of new clients, and it worked. A family of passionate cruisers really liked the looks, along with multiple suggested leisure areas.
In fact, a large infinity pool was among the eye-catching areas out on deck. Heesen Yachts’ Sparta still has one, although it’s longer, 21 feet (6½ meters) versus the initially conceived 16 feet (5 meters). The owners further liked the family-focused layout, which put a creative twist on stateroom positions. Specifically, Winch Design penned two master suites, both on the upper deck. Additionally, the designers penned two VIP staterooms forward on the main deck that can convert into one large room via a sliding partition.
Of course, the family collaborated with the designers to ensure their personalities and preferences flowed throughout. So, for example, each deck aboard Heesen Yachts’ Sparta has its own décor theme. “Air” is the theme for the upper deck, with space-oriented touches in one master suite and sky-oriented touches in the other. Meanwhile, “water” is the theme for the lower deck. The main deck has an “earth” theme. Suitably, guests will find leaf details in fabrics. A coffee table—with forest-green marble—is the shape of a leaf, too.
Heesen will deliver Sparta before the end of the year.
